Feeding the Mind

We tutor and mentor 30 at-risk students enrolled in first through sixth grades. Students in the program come from Richardson ISD's Skyview, Thurgood Marshall, and Wallace Elementary. 75% of the students in our program come from Spanish-speaking homes.

Students meet with our after school program team members twice a week. Our reading buddies and math roundtables improve their basic academic skills. Last year our team members also launched an arts program. This program helps kids learn about scripture in a fun and interactive way. It also reinforces basic learning fundamentals. Consistent involvement in the after-school program prepares students for success in the classroom. They learn life skills and build character.

My boys love going to EPIC.  This is the 5th year we have been coming.  They are learning about God, and they talk about their value from God.  At EPIC, the leaders teach the kids manners and respect.  During the afternoons, the kids have fun learning and doing activities that teach them to value people and their home.  I have told many friends about The Little School and now they are sending their kids.

Emily and Osvaldo have been coming to EPIC for 4 years.  They learn, make friends, have fun and do lots of hands-on activities.  Their favorite things are the games they get to play. My kids have learned a lot about God and about being a good human.  They feel loved and are very happy at EPIC, because the leaders get to know us and we are like family.
