EASY PEASY LEMON SQUEEZY!

This year, Feed Lake Highlands (FLH) registered with National Lemonade Day 2019 and on May 4, 2019 you can find our campers and leaders at 3 lemonade stands.  This has been a great experience for our EPIC students, the after school club for 1st-6thgrade students hosted by FLH, as they have learned lessons about entrepreneurship and teamwork.

The mission of National Lemonade Day is to help today’s youth become the business leaders, social advocates, community volunteers and forward-thinking citizens of tomorrow…one lemonade stand at a time!

OUR EPIC ENTREPRENEURS CAN TELL YOU 3 STEPS TO SUCCESS

  • Set a goal
  • Make a plan
  • Work the plan

THEY HOPE YOU FOLLOW 3 SIMPLE STEPS ON MAY 4

  • Visit an EPIC-Ade stand
  • Purchase a $1.00 cup of lemonade
  • Help a camper fund their PowerAde band or Shaved Ice

And at the end of the day on May 4, ask everyone...
EASY PEASY LEMON SQUEEZY!

During the month of April, on Tuesdays we have our small group business meetings and on Thursdays we have a team wrap up gathering.  Students chose to become members of the Set-Up, Marketing, Finance or Flavor Teams.  Leaders discussed booth design, supplies, budget, posters, slogan, and company name in our small groups.  We named our stands, determined the flavor, set a budget and created eye-catching advertising.  Some of the decisions have been unanimous; others have been by a very narrow margin. But all have been decided by the 25 students in the club.  And by far, the most enjoyable day was Flavor Taste Test Day!  After many samples of many combinations of flavors – the winner is Strawberry Pink Lemonade!

Our entrepreneurs are almost ready!  They learned key business terms, set financial goals, discussed sanitation and safety tips, and role played potential customer scenarios.  The final touches for signage and work shifts happen during these next two weeks.  Then it is your opportunity to get involved as they work their plan!

ON SATURDAY, MAY 4, FROM 10AM – 2PM
VISIT AN EPIC-ADE STAND AT ONE OF OUR 3 LOCATIONS.

  • Fish City Grill Patio – 7170 Skillman Street
  • Kroger #511 – 10677 E. Northwest Hwy
  • Steel City Pops Patio – 2012 Greenville Avenue

Please come find a business entrepreneur in a bright green apron – Support our camping program – Let the kids say thank you and tell you all about camp as you enjoy a refreshing cup of cold lemonade.  See you May 4!
